Job Title: Electrical Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Holmfirth

Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 pa (plus over time) dependent on experience

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (Monday to Friday, Day shifts)

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join an award winning family run dairy based in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. The dairy currently manufactures branded chilled products for retail, wholesale and foodservice customers both in the UK and overseas.

The dairy is now looking to recruit an Industrial Electrician with maintenance experience looking for a permanent position with continuous up skilling opportunities.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your work will involve the routine planned and preventative electrical servicing of all production and site equipment. Within the role you will work with single phase, 3 phase electrics and drives. Some of the machinery are PLC driven so you will also work with these, you will be involved in carrying out electrical work around the dairy such as new installations.

All candidates must possess excellent interpersonal skills and must be currently eligible to work in the United Kingdom. Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in an Industrial electrical engineering discipline, have a minimum of six years’ experience, ideally gained in a food manufacturing environment.

All team members are expected to demonstrate a reasonable degree of flexibility, with varying working hours to limit the impact of engineering works on production schedules. Although the hours are predominantly Monday to Friday, some weekend availability is required from time to time. The engineering team all take part in an out of hours cover rota to attend site in the event of a break down or emergency, you will be expected to fit alongside your colleagues within the rotation. Pay for out of hours cover is paid in addition to the salary stated.

The role involves:

  • Pre-planned and reactive maintenance on a range of machinery and equipment on site including:
    • Inspection
    • Testing and fault finding
    • Installation
    • Repair
    • Building panels
  • Understanding technical drawings and reports
  • Troubleshooting and responding to machinery malfunctions that occur during production
  • Ensuring new designs or modifications to existing equipment are verified and validated before hand over to production
