Job Title: Desktop and Server Support Analyst

Location: London (E1)

Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 per annum plus benefits

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Working as part of a Technical Support Team the Network Server Analyst will have primary responsibility for the efficient day to day operation of all the company’s servers throughout the company.

The Analyst will ensure all servers meet standard levels of configuration, access and maintenance. Implement and maintain information and access security control. The role also encompasses 1st/2nd line support for the company’s user base.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage issues raised through the helpdesk fault reporting system
  • Monitoring and general administration of servers
  • Checking server event logs daily and highlighting irregularities
  • Monitoring the virus protection service and ensuring pattern files are up to date
  • Monitoring e-mail system making sure the service is running at optimum level and without blockages
  • Monitoring and maintaining an efficient backup system
  • Audit and maintain cleanliness of IT equipment rooms
  • Maintain file access regime and report any security violation attempts
  • Daily checking of Firewall activity
  • Produce and maintain accurate systems documentation and procedures
  • Provide helpdesk support where necessary
  • Participate with on call rota
  • Provide input to various projects

Key Requirements:

  • MCSE (or equivalent) or relevant proven experience
  • Windows client and server operating systems to current versions and DOS operating systems along with UNIX/Linux administration skills
  • Microsoft Active Directory configuration and administration
  • VMware virtualisation technologies
  • Storage Arrays particularly Dell/Equallogic
  • Understanding of information security methods
  • Network LAN/WAN technologies – cabling, protocol, Microsoft domain setup including Active Directory.
  • Networking components – Hubs, Switches, routers, firewalls
  • Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Exchange server 5.5/2000
  • Creating and use of desktop and IT policies and procedures
  • Data backup technologies (Arcserve/Backup Exec)
  • Systematic fault finding techniques
  • Pro-active approach to problem solving
  • Confident, sound technical judgement and knowledge of server technology
  • High degree of accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and written
  • Highly customer focused approach
  • Prepared to travel
