Job Title: Accommodation Assistant
Location: Lancaster
Salary: £22,681 to £24,533 pro rata
Job type: Part Time 0.6 FTE. This is a part time role, total hours in the week are 22.5 over a three-day period. Preferred pattern of work is 3 full (7.5 hour) days to include Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. This may change to facilitate key periods or holiday cover.

Joining our Team:
The Graduate College Accommodation Team provide front line customer focused service for the postgraduate students and families who live in the on-campus accommodation. The team offers information and support to postgraduate students from all over the world throughout their Lancaster University journey, starting from when they first accept their course and need accommodation to when they depart after completing their degree.
Graduate College is operational for 52 weeks. We have key points throughout the year which include main arrivals in the Autumn, arrival of students for additional language courses over the Summer and departing students at the end of September. The office and accommodation blocks are a busy environment, we are part of a strong and supportive wider accommodation team.
The team strives to provide an environment that gives the student a comfortable, safe and happy place to live whilst completing their studies. The role is very rewarding, especially as you witness the arrival of a student on their first day at the university or possibly the first time in the country and you then you see them graduate and set off on their next adventure.
The Team administers a range of queries from a diverse student population on behalf of the Accommodation Manager, in person, by telephone, online and email, finding solutions to the varied problems which enquirers may bring. We organise events for postgraduate students and families which will include children.
The Role:
This role will support the Graduate College team in;
- Replying to queries via email, telephone, internal systems and face to face
- Assist Accommodation Manager and College staff in maintaining safety of buildings and residents
- Liaising with university departments and professional services colleagues
- Developing systems and processes to sustain and deliver support for students in an accommodation setting
- You will be expected to demonstrate an ability to work with minimal supervision
- Assisting as required with the management of the college accommodation to maintain the asset; carrying out room checks, efficiently identifying and reporting repairs
- The role is office based at the Lancaster University campus. The front facing nature of this role does require physical presence during hours of work
You will have strong administrative and IT skills preferably gained within the HE or a housing context, possess excellent communication skills and have an awareness of cross-cultural issues. The role is varied; good organisational skills and a flexible approach to work will be required.
You will join us on a part time 0.6 indefinite contract to start in 2024.
