Job Title: Activity Leader & Lifeguard

Location: Luton

Salary: £20,954 – £22,445 per annum

Job Type: Full Time, 37hrs p/w & Part time, 33.25hrs p/w

Company Profile:

Active Luton is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Activity Leader/Lifeguard Coordinator to join its friendly team at Lewsey Park and Lea Manor Recreation Centre.

We have positions available for part-time and full time.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the day-to-day running of the leisure centre, and acting-up as shift leader as required.
  • The day is varied and includes liaising with customers, setting up sessions, poolside duties.
  • Ensuring the centre runs smoothly and safely.
  • Supervise and instruct customers and Activity Assistants in the provision of high quality activities and activity programmes including areas where specialist knowledge is required.
  • Ensure day to day operations of the facility meet all health & safety requirements.
  • Prepare all areas and equipment for use ensuring cleanliness, safety and effective basic maintenance.
  • Engage and communicate with customers, responding to their enquiries and questions where appropriate and providing feedback to team leader.
  • Contribute to the positive promotion of all activities within the facility.
  • Ensure that all activities undertaken comply with Active Luton policies, procedures and relevant legislation.

Essential Skills and requirements:

  • Applicants must be a strong/confident swimmer.
  • Successful applicants will be subject to DBS clearance.
  • Able to converse with ease with members of the public and provide effective help or advice in accurate and fluent spoken English.

Desired Skills and requirements:

  • Applicants should have experience of working in a leisure environment and hold a NPLQ. If you don’t have an NPLQ, training will be provided for confident swimmers.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety in relation to sports centres.
  • Knowledge of pool and sports hall procedures.
  • Supervisory experience.
