We are excited to be working with Gafoor, a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston to recruit an agricultural planner. Gafoor is a key player in their sector operating on a national basis, supplying poultry products to leading blue chip manufacturers.

The company is looking for an agricultural planner who will take on the responsibility of creating and owning the live bird operation supplying our manufacturing site in Preston. This will be achieved through the coordination, managing and understanding of the region, catching, transport and factory capacities and variables – whilst achieving all at lowest possible cost.

About the role:

  • Planning the live haul operation each day for our chicken factory using the correct information in terms of catching teams, farm constraints, vehicle constraints and external sales / purchases information
  • Create a live haul plan
  • React and handle any last-minute changes that impact the plan, and adjust as necessary to mitigate supply issues into the factory
  • Distribute the plan to the sales and operations teams
  • Continually update internal software relating to both farms and vehicles
  • Develop strong working relationships with regional farming partners and communicate information/plans accordingly
  • Assist in the development of agricultural planning systems in support of Gafoor’s planning process and to manage changes as part of a wider IT project
  • Ensure that our agricultural processes are not planned to break legislation, permit restrictions or our various accreditations e.g RTA, BRC
  • Assist in any ancillary tasks to help improve Gafoor’s operational flow.
  • Support and collaborate with the wider agricultural team, sales and operations.

About you:

  • Demonstrates understanding of supply chain and planning
  • Previous experience in the poultry sector specifically demand/supply planning
  • Strong IT skills – competent in Excel
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Confident, open, collaborative communicator
  • Structured and organised – punctual with the ability to work to strict deadlines and multi-task
  • Capable of organising and delivering change projects
  • Approachable, personable and team focussed
  • Proactive self-starter with a strong work ethic
