Location: Daventry (National)

Salary: £35,884 + £5,131 shift allowance (you can also take home £8,203 in additional hours)

Job type: Full Time / Permanent

Introduction

We are currently recruiting for an Area Technician to join DB Cargo UK in our Maintenance Department.

This role will lead and direct the traction and rolling stock maintenance activity at the Major Depot Sites and other DB Cargo depots to ensure cost effective maintenance and repair of the fleet in accordance with laid down technical, safety and quality standards in order to meet all business requirements.

What will you be doing?

As an Area Technician you will be responsible for ensuring that all targets set by the Depot Manager are met whilst developing, facilitating and leading continuous improvement projects.

In conjunction with the Depot Manager and the Project Manager you’ll have the opportunity to develop and implement work plans which will deliver the required output to deliver depot targets to the laid down technical, safety and quality standards within the agreed budget to achieve the agreed availability and reliability standards.

Other areas you will be working on will include:

  • Competent in unit 350 with both electric and diesel locomotives / units
  • Monitor progress against plan in terms of budget, materials provision, vehicle presentation and work done.
  • Review specifications for new work.
  • Higher Level Technical Fault finding
  • Testing and Commissioning of Signalling systems.
  • Advanced Mechanical Fault Finding.
  • Technical Riding and Report Writing.
  • Use of smart technology required TOPS. Maximo etc
  • Writing and Delivering Technical Courses.
  • Staff training and development
  • Produce condition reports.
  • Produce production reports.
  • Develop and lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure Area requirements for delivery of T&RS are met on a day to day basis.
  • Responsible for general Health and Safety whilst on depot, safety tours and IPE’s, updating staff of any amendments.
  • Safety Briefing for staff at beginning of shift.
  • Working away from a home location as required, within working shift hours.
  • Possibility of overnight hotel stay based on business requirements.
  • Maintain current ISO standards in Quality, Safety and Environmental.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with Traction & Rolling Stock Maintenance experience or transferable skills related to the role.

Good organisational skills, with an ability to manager own workload and prioritise work in a pressurised environment and meet deadlines.

This role will require working away from a home location as required, within working shift hours. Possibility of overnight hotel stay based on business requirements.
