The City of York Council Adult Social Care service are excited to be entering a new phase, underpinned by recruitment of staff to our vacant positions. An exciting opportunity has arisen to take on the role of permanent Assistant Service Manager within our friendly and dedicated Learning Disabilities Team.

We’re keen to hear from professionals registered with Social Work England, or equivalent, who want to work within an established, supportive, forward thinking, and innovative team.

Are you committed to providing high quality, reflective and regular supervision to those you line manage? Do you pride yourself on focusing on staff wellbeing whilst driving excellent practice, and delivering outcomes, for the people we support? To thrive in this role, you will be keen to think outside the box to provide development opportunities for all members of our team, and yourself.

You will be aspirational and adept at managing high demands, with strong organisational abilities and sound decision making skills. You’ll manage pressure and competing demands well, while being able to identify opportunities for innovation to improve what we do and how we do it.

You will work collaboratively with our front-line colleagues and the Leadership Team to enable the Local Authority to meet its statutory requirements to support people, with care and support needs, to have a good life free from abuse and neglect. You will be committed to ensuring people we support are connected and contributing to communities and do things that give satisfaction.

Working closely with the preparing for Adulthood Co-ordinator, you will support our younger cohort of people with learning disabilities who are aged between 18 and 25 and build upon or develop excellent working relationships with partners within and outside of City of York Council.

You will be committed to strengths-based practice and promotion of community assets and have an ability to identify and make best use of these where requests are made for funded services.

With an excellent understanding and ability to apply The Mental Capacity Act, The Care Act, The Mental Health Act, and Continuing Health Care Framework you will be highly skilled at reasoning, providing professional challenge, and recommending a course of action for the Local Authority that is defensible. You will also know when to seek further advice and guidance and be proficient at using new information to reformulate ideas.

Building trust by being true to your word and being accountable by taking ownership when things go wrong and promoting a learning culture, you will be an excellent leader and role model in a team where you can realise your full potential to influence and improve what we do.

If the above matches your experience we would love to hear from you.
