Job Title: Interim Associate Director, Communications, Marketing and Membership (Maternity Cover)

Location: London

Salary: £60,000-£67,000 per annum plus bonus

Job Type: Full Time, Fixed-Term Contract

We are looking for an Interim Associate Director, Communications, Marketing and Membership to drive our ambitious marketing, membership and sales strategy and lead our growing team on a fixed term contract basis.

The right candidate will have the opportunity to continue this transformation at pace ensuring we optimise our digital tools to provide member value and grow sales.

This role will manage the marketing and membership teams within techUK and will provide strategic direction and support for our subsidiary organisation, TechSkills, as it undergoes a brand refresh and digital overhaul.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the financial, member engagement and satisfaction goals for the business are achieved

  • Empower the membership and marketing teams (including TechSkills) to deliver on their KPIs
  • Working with the teams, track results and adapt the strategy on an ongoing basis to ensure success

Drive transformation through our digital tools

  • Manage existing projects to ensure delivery of improved functionality of our digital tools across retention and lead generation
  • Identify ways to ensure the digital resources we have (CRM and website, in particular) are optimised to support the business needs
  • Lead the roll out of training and support for the rest of the organisation to gain value from the tools across sales, member engagement and marketing

Lead an excellent brand, media and marketing programme

  • Guide the communications manager to develop and deliver exemplar media strategies that increase brand awareness
  • Support on media relations including the press office function and coordination of media activity
  • Ensure the head of brand and campaigns has the tools to deliver impactful multi-channel marketing campaigns
  • Ensure the head of data-driven marketing is empowered to provide insights back to the business that improve processes, drive down exits and improve sales
  • Provide strategic direction and support for our subsidiary organisation, TechSkills, as it undergoes a brand refresh and digital overhaul.

Planning, measurement and success tracking

  • Provide strategic direction and support as the teams adapt and develop plans throughout the year
  • Ensure that all reporting on membership and marketing activity is delivered in a timely manner
  • Ensure the reports and updates are prepared for the Membership, Finance and Performance (MF&P) Board and Main Board meetings.

  • Competencies
  • Brand positioning, messaging development and media strategies
  • Marketing digital transformation leadership
  • Strong project and process management skills
  • Performance and resource management
  • Problem solver – identifying and dealing with issues quickly to deliver both commercial and engagement goals
  • Strong copywriting and editing skills

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Communications background working with tech and/or policy focused media
  • Experience in project management of website redevelopment and implementation of new CRM
  • Experience in both sales and retention marketing and across social media, direct mail, media and website channels
  • Experience line managing a dynamic team of comms and marketing experts
  • Experience working with senior leaders on strategy and delivery against commercial and engagement goals

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Click Dynamics and ReadyMembership CMS
  • Experience in and knowledge of the membership association sector
  • Experience in and knowledge of tech sector trends and priorities
  • Experience managing customer (member) relations and new business teams
