The Role:

As Building Maintenance Technician, you will be expected to carry out all maintenance and repair works at your allocated site, as required by the Regional Supervisor/National Account Manager. You may need to travel to other sites in your region to carry out maintenance/repair works, as required.

The Building Maintenance Technician’s responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Ensure all PPM work is carried out on the required date and all paperwork is sent to office to enable upload to Portal
  • Ensure all jobs are responded to and rectified within the SLA timescale
  • This will include: Evaluate, Repair and Maintain Works within your skill set
  • Liaising with and Supervising Sub-contractors
  • Update Service Desk with all relevant information on parts ordered /sizes/ measurements and which suppliers it’s been ordered with
  • Raise any works as a proactive involvement
  • Ensure all open works are priority each morning
  • Be proactive around the building in fault finding
  • Liaising with the Client
  • Ensure that the correct spares are onsite for any eventuality
  • Reduce the site visits of mobile engineering by being able to first time fix through relevant training which is being carried out by management
  • Ensure you take all responsibility and ownership for each job
  • Ensure no jobs are passed back to helpdesk without an in-depth investigation first. Ensure you are the first port of call for anybody visiting site

General Administration

  • Ensure that all weekly time sheets are fully completed and submitted to the Finance Office by end of day Friday each week
  • Ensure that all delivery notes from site deliveries/collections are scanned and submitted to the office by 1pm the following day
  • Ensure that completion sheets are signed and returned to the office
  • Ensure inventory of parts list is onsite
  • Ensure the correct handover procedures are in place if site is being covered by another engineer covering site for holidays and any works by contractors for the week are highlighted and Rams in place
  • Ensure all administration is up to date and filed correctly in relevant folders

Plant and Equipment

  • Ensure that materials and equipment delivered to site are adequately identified, and safely handled and stored to prevent loss, damage or injury
  • Ensure that measuring and testing equipment required for the work area is properly identified, calibrated, adjusted and labelled
  • Ensure that plant and equipment is maintained in a safe condition and is regularly serviced
  • Ensure all equipment is PAT Tested and Calibrated
  • Ensure all plantrooms are free of rubbish/swept and tidy and contractors are supervised if works are being carried out by them
  • Ensure all riser cupboards are clear of rubbish

Personnel and Safety

  • Implement Health and Safety on site by complying with relevant H&S documentation
  • Register in the site register and take part in a site-specific induction at the start of each project
  • Ensure that good housekeeping standards are maintained
  • Ensure that personal protective clothing and equipment appropriate to the work are worn
  • Ensure compliance with site safety rules

Communication

  • Provide detailed updates on job progresses via the Service Desk App
  • Email the Service Desk to confirm when a specialist contractor is required to support providing details of the works and pictures where possible
  • Email the Service Desk with material details required to complete the works if a PO is required
  • Chase suppliers and contractor for ETA’s to assist jobs to be completed in SLA (Service Desk to copy you in when raising instruction or PO’s to suppliers providing contact details for you to chase)
  • Escalate to your regional supervisors when you are unable to progress a job, unable to identify materials required for works, Suppliers/contractors not providing suitable delivery Generally, assist Supervisors/Managers with tasks as directed from time to time.
