Job Title: Buyer

Location: High Post, Salisbury

Salary: £35,000 to £45,000

Job Type: Full time, 37.5 hours a week (Mon to Fri with Fri half day)

About the role:

The Buyer will be responsible for ensuring the timely procurement of high quality materials and services in order to maintain the flow to the manufacturing line, in accordance with the production schedule in order to meet delivery commitments to customers. In addition, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the procurement and supply chain capability.

Responsibilities of the role will include, but not limited to:

  • To support the implementation of strategic procurement plans in the most cost efficient and timely manner to meet business objectives and goals both internally and within the supply base.
  • To negotiate and agree supplier contracts ensuring technical and commercial terms are agreed
  • Support Business development in the preparation of procurement related bids and plans.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant procurement and supply chain trends and developments.
  • Comply with Group policies and Business Code of Ethics.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with CCM UK suppliers.

Buyer specification:

  • Right to live and work in the UK, with ability to obtain suitable level security clearance (5 years British residency necessary)
  • HNC or equivalent in a Business or Technical discipline
  • Member or working towards CIPS qualification, desirable
  • Demonstrate experience working within a buyer / procurement role
  • Working knowledge of computerized inventory management systems and techniques. MRP etc
  • Able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles relative to procurement
  • Basic SCM principles knowledge and application, necessary
  • Able to read basic manufacturing drawings and to convey accordingly our requirements to suppliers
  • Excellent communication skills

This role is typically worked over a 4.5 day week; Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30. Flexibility is required to support the needs of the business.
