Job Title: Buyer & Purchasing Analyst

Location: Chelmsford

Salary: £30k – £35k based on experience

Job type: Permanent, Full Time. Please note that this role will be Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and you must be a Driver with permanent access to a car as we are not accessible in any way via public transport.

With a strong commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction, we have been serving our merchants for 17 years and with a focus on continuous improvement, our family run business is seeking a dedicated and experienced buyer and purchasing analyst to join our team and lead our operations to new heights.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

Internal Sales Data Analysis and Forecasting:

  • Conduct in-depth internal analysis of sales data to identify trends and patterns
  • Utilize analytical skills to forecast future needs for procuring goods based on sales data insights

Conduct Market Research:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities

Manage Supplier Relationships:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms
  • Evaluate supplier performance, ensuring adherence to quality standards, delivery timelines, and cost-effectiveness

Supplier Cost Analysis:

  • Analyse costs from various suppliers to identify opportunities for savings and efficiency improvements
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of supplier pricing structures and performance, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality standards

Effective Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with internal colleagues, suppliers, and other relevant parties to understand requirements and negotiate terms
  • Prepare and present reports and recommendations to management based on data analysis

Strategic Sourcing:

  • Implement strategic sourcing to optimize procurement processes and improve overall efficiency
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers to diversify the supply chain and reduce risk

Utilize Technology:

  • Use procurement and analytics tools to streamline processes, manage data, and extract meaningful insights
  • Engage in in-house analysis and forecasting activities to enhance decision-making

Risk Management:

  • Assess and mitigate risks related to procurement, such as supply chain disruptions or quality issues
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to ensure continuity of supply

Negotiation Expertise:

  • Apply strong negotiation skills to secure favourable terms with suppliers
  • Negotiate contracts, prices, and other terms to achieve the best possible outcomes

Continuous Improvement:

  • Commit to continuous improvement by identifying areas for optimization and implementing changes as needed
  • Engage in in-house analysis and forecasting activities to enhance decision-making and strategic planning

Sales Office Support:

  • Providing essential support to the sales office environment by efficiently handling administrative tasks
  • Proficient in answering phone calls, addressing inquiries, and ensuring a positive and professional interaction with customers and suppliers
  • Ability to accurately input orders

Required:

  • Proven Expertise in Procurement, Sourcing, or Supply Chain Management
  • Strong Negotiation, Contract Management, and Analytical Skills
  • Knowledge of Procurement Software and Tools
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Forecasting Sales and Purchasing Needs
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Abilities
  • Microsoft Outlook Proficiency

Desired:

  • Mathematics & English GCSE at Grade C or Above
  • Qualification in Purchasing/Procurement & Supply

Additional benefits:

  • 28 days Holiday (20 days plus Bank Holidays), increasing by one day after one year’s service and every year up to a maximum of five years
