Job Title: Care Assistant (Learning Disabilities)

Location: Ipswich, Suffolk (On-site)

Salary: £10 per hour

Job type: 40 hours per week, flexible shift patterns, including evenings and weekends.

L’Arche Ipswich provides outstanding care and support to people living in a ‘shared lives’ setting, across 3 houses in Ipswich, Suffolk.

It is a community of 35+ people with and without learning disabilities, where people with learning disabilities can live independent, yet connected lives. The majority of assistants supporting these individuals live in the same community house. The Ipswich community is part of L’Arche UK which consists of 11 communities across England, Scotland and Wales. Each Community celebrates people with learning disability and fosters circles of support around them, focusing on building relationships and creating a culture of belonging.

The role:

We are seeking Care Assistants to join us and support adults with learning disabilities to live the best life possible.

In this caring and creative role, everything you do will enable people to have choices about their own lives, providing flexible services that meet people’s needs, and always looking for the best way of doing things.

The purpose of your role is to give the highest possible standards of support to individuals with learning disabilities, in all aspects of their daily lives.

  • Are provided with any personal care needs with dignity
  • Increase their independence
  • Are enabled to make as many choices as possible
  • Achieve personal goals, which may include travel or holidays

The Candidate:

  • It is essential you hold a Care Certificate/Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification and have a minimum of 2 years’ work experience with adults with learning disabilities.
