About the Role:
Due to our continued growth and expansion plans we’re recruiting for a Centreless Grinder to work alongside our existing teams at our fully equipped site with melting, rolling, heat treatment, grinding, straightening, cutting and testing capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Sheffield’s dynamic and long-standing companies – a key fixture in the Sheffield Steel industry!
Key Tasks:
- Long bar centreless grinding on manual machines (Cincinnati, Mikrosa & Lidkoping)
- Use of micrometres to check bar sizes against tolerances
- Be conscious about preventing cross-material contamination and clean down machines between different jobs
- Handle and install grinding wheels, including setting up and dressing
- Perform general and preventative maintenance on the grinding machines, in line with your existing experience
- Reeling duties, as and when required
Any other task as required by your manager.
Training in hot reeling and other forms of bar straightening will be provided, as and when the job necessitates, as well as the opportunity to learn Peeling.
It is expected that you will be flexible in your approach to working, and be willing to engage in other processing operations as and when need requires it. You must be a strong team player and be able to individually perform to meet our customer’s demands. A willingness to listen and learn is also key to this role.
About you:
You will be an experienced Centreless Grinder able to join the Pro-Roll team at our base in Sheffield within a few weeks, if not immediately. Working within our bar finishing division the role will involve working on a standard day shift, with potential overtime, within in a busy manufacturing environment.

Essential Skill Requirements:
- Experience in working in a steelworks/metal manufacturing
- Skilled in using Verniers and/or micrometres
- Keen, motivated and reliable
- Excellent attention to detail
- Fully compliant to Health & Safety requirements
- FLT License (refresher training can be provided)
- Overhead Crane certified (refresher training can be provided)
