Danaher & Walsh is a long-established civil engineering contractor operating across the Midlands who is experiencing ongoing growth. Due to this increasing level of business, an opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join our team.

As a Civil Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

The Project Manager will assist with the overall management of projects from award to completion in order to achieve the required project delivery to the customers’ objectives while maintaining standards of health, safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control.

The Project Manager will be required to assist the site teams in delivering multiple on-going projects to the specified quality, the required programme and to the maximum commercial performance.

You will be working closely with the Commercial Department, Agents, Engineers, Supervisors and other management to ensure that projects are completed in a safe manner whilst customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded.

What we’re looking for

Organised and analytical, as a Project Manager, you must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a great eye for detail. You must also be hands-on and proactive with excellent time-management and problem-solving abilities.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• Managerial Experience – proven management experience in the Civil Contracting industry; Minimum 5 years, +7 years preferred.
• Commercial and Contractual awareness.
• Demonstrable experience, particularly in Civil Engineering projects.
• Project management skills.
• Team leader and manager with organisational and people management skills.
• Solid experience and knowledge of producing SHEQ documents and CDM regulations.
• Sound engineering judgement and problem-solving skills.
• Must be confident in dealing with complex issues and demonstrate the ability to do so on a regular basis.
• Contracting Methods – knowledge of contracts methods and up-to-date knowledge of specifications and contracts
• Good working knowledge of highway works, including reinstatements, deep and shallow drainage, bridgeworks and other general civil engineering works
• Good working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation with regard to health, safety, quality and environmental management
• Technical Level – demonstrate a high level of ability, advanced knowledge and techniques to pass on to others.
• Computer Literate: Able to use IT to levels required for the management of the works; including understanding and use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Project (or other programme management tools).
• Competent in identifying and assessing contract risks (in all formats), preparing method statements and safe systems of work.
