Job Title: CNC Turner

Location: Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire

Salary: £29,500 – £31,500

Job Type: 37 hours per week – 7.00am to 3.30pm Mon-Thurs (30 mins lunch), 7.00am to 12.00pm Fri (no lunchbreak)

The role:

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced CNC Turner to join our busy and highly motivated team on a permanent contract, within our Covid secure working environment.

The work is varied, interesting and demanding and we expect high standards for quality and performance. With a time served background you will be expected to manufacture a wide range of steel and aluminium components on our Mazak CNC Turning machines. You will require a good practical knowledge of CNC machining.

You will join our manufacturing department, ensuring that quality standards are met on all components, by following company processes, and procedures. Our products are designed to support the teaching of engineering principles, and all the finished work is visible to the end customers. We pride ourselves on delivering an excellent quality of finish and it is therefore imperative that you have great attention to detail and work to an exceptionally neat standard.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Programming, Setting and Operating Mazak CNC Turning Machines within a low volume, small batch environment (some machines have ‘live’ tooling)
  • Self-inspection of components using manual measuring equipment
  • Creation of Mazatrol programmes for new components
  • Ensure manufactured parts are produced in the most efficient manner.
  • Setting and running multiple machines when the component and/or batch sizes allow.

Essential:

  • Programming, setting and operating experience of CNC Turning machinery – preferably Mazak Machinery.
  • CNC Turning experience within a similar hi-tech environment – ideally apprentice trained
  • Able to work accurately to deadlines.
  • An ability to read 1st and 3rd angle engineering drawings.
  • An enthusiastic team player with a can-do/flexible attitude
  • Continual process improvement attitude

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications.
  • A willingness to help in other areas of the factory should the demand arise.
  • Conventional Turning experience
  • Experience of programming with Edgecam
  • Manual and/or CNC Milling experience

About Tecquipment:

We design and make lab equipment used by universities and colleges to teach engineering so quality of function and finish are critically important. Operating at the extreme end of high mix/low volume electro-mechanical manufacturing, we have evolved approaches that have served the business well and now are looking for the successful candidate to drive the identification and implementation of manufacturing best practise tailored to our particular product mix and business needs.

TecQuipment manufactures of over 400 different products in our site in Long Eaton, near Nottingham. We typically complete and ship around 60 sales orders per month, each of which may include multiple products. The products cover a range from simple forces and moments kits through to wind-tunnels and gas turbines so there is tremendous variety and different challenges every day.
