About the role:

We are currently looking to recruit five Communications Account Leads who will each be focused on supporting one of the following directorates:

  • Adults and Health
  • Brighter Futures
  • Children and Young People’s Services
  • Environment and Sustainable Transport
  • Inclusive Economy and Housing

These roles will be pivotal to developing Newham’s Communications and Campaigns strategy, enabling stakeholders, customers and residents to keep abreast of key updates within the services.

Operating across a wide range of disciplines, the role has frequent engagement with senior officers, partners and stakeholders, to manage projects and direct multi-disciplinary programmes/ teams. Working collaboratively to coordinate resources, the Communications Account Lead will be the dedicated point of contact for the service area, leading on discussions from policy and service development, to the design and execution of communications.

Ultimately, the Communications Account Lead provides expertise on the communications strategy, whilst carrying out the necessary research to guide an effective communication plan. As a key member of the Directorate’s management team, the role actively seeks to develop and maintain strong relationships with the press and media to ensure Newham’s positive public profile is upheld.

You will be ambitious in your approach, evidencing your communications skills along with the experience of working collaboratively amongst various stakeholders to implement service improvement initiatives.

Boasting strong leadership skills, you will be a confident leader who focuses on coaching, developing and guiding teams to achieve operational excellence, whilst demonstrating a strong performance management culture.
