Job Title: Compliance Manager

Location: Corpach, Fort William

Salary: Circa. £45,000 – £55,000 p/a depending on experience.

Job type: Full- time, permanent. Core hours of work 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. Travel, overnight stays and overtime including weekend work will be required at times due to the nature of the business.

About the role:

The Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality department whilst interfacing with other departments across the business to assist with compliance management.

The successful applicant will provide strategic advice on compliance matters including Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality to the Senior Management Board along with providing strategic advice to all departments with regard to compliance and safety.

Key Skills, Experience & Competencies

  • Knowledge of UK and EU Ship Recycling Regulations or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of Waste Management Regulations or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of Port Marine Safety Code.

Desired

  • Maintain skills and provide Radiation Protection Supervisor services.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene to prepare and present HACCP plans.
  • Maintain skills and deputise to provide support to the Port Security Officer
  • Knowledge of ISO Standards, SQAS, FIAS, TASCC and other accreditations

Main Responsibilities (list not exhaustive):

  • Overseeing the day to day running of the Compliance and SHEQ department including responsibilities detailed in the JD of the SHEQ Officer (in their absence)
  • Oversee the undertaking of safety inspections of all depots/yards within Ferguson Transport premises (including Kishorn, Invergordon, Methil and Grangemouth)
  • Interface with our port and pier operations managers on port safety and security
  • Interface with the DPA for marine and port activities
  • Oversee and keep abreast of any changes or amendments to SHEQ or Corporate Social Responsibilities legislation and communicate these to managers and staff members when required
  • Ensure risk assessments and health & safety policies are reviewed as necessary
  • Make up new risk assessments and method statements when required
  • Prepare strategic plans with regard to compliance, safety, health and environmental and present them to Company Directors for approval
  • Oversee the organising and monitoring of fire safety – including regular drills and reviews of the various fire risk assessments
  • Provide support to maintain the NORM permit to support operations on behalf of KPL
  • Provide support to maintain and where necessary, variations to the waste management license to support operations on behalf of KPL
  • Maintain knowledge licenses, permits and authorisations with regard to ship recycling and provide an overview to directors
