The Impact You Will Have:

You’ll be immersed in a highly experienced Customs team who are focused on improving the experience for our Clients and Suppliers.

The role will manage all customs formalities with our partner Gerlach and liaising directly with customers and suppliers. You will obtain all the necessary customs information directly from our customers and forward to our partner Gerlach to raise the customs paperwork. You will ensure the suppliers have the correct paperwork for road freight shipments entering and exiting European borders post Brexit.

A Typical Day:

  • To check and verify information contained on commercial invoices and Customer Clearance Instructions and communicate any discrepancies to customers or partners and rectify.
  • To communicate directly with customs brokers to ensure all supporting paperwork is received to generate customs paperwork.
  • To ensure customs documents are returned and loaded onto the internal system.
  • To ensure all relevant information and paperwork has been obtained from our customers.
  • To ensure all relevant paperwork has been sent to our customs brokers and suppliers for the operation to run smoothly and achieve shipping deadlines.
  • To set up new customers with our partner Gerlach in the UK and Europe.
  • To complete AEO documents and load onto the internal system.
  • To check clearance has been completed overseas and confirm duty has been paid on all DDP shipments.
  • To work closely with colleagues and third parties to ensure the operation runs smoothly to achieve deadlines.
  • To ensure proper compliance and adherence to export/Import administration regulations.

Is this the Role for you?

  • 2:1 logistics and supply chain degree, a placement year in industry would be advantageous OR experience in a similar role within a freight forwarding operational environment.
  • Preferably, you have experience of working in an office environment.
  • Possesses strong communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • You should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft programs, in particular Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • You must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • You can work independently and are able to manage and prioritise a busy work schedule.
  • You are confident speaking to suppliers and customers over the phone.
  • You must have previous experience of working in an administrational role.
