Saffron Walden Golf Club is set in the picturesque surroundings of Audley End’s famous mansion, the Club boasts superb views over the historic market town of Saffron Walden.
In addition to our outstanding golf course, we have a 140-person capacity clubhouse and bar & catering facility serving freshly cooked, homemade food on a daily basis, alongside numerous beers & wines. We also have a private function/conference room seating up to 24 people seminar style overlooking the 18th green, in addition to one of the largest private car parks in town.
The Role
Saffron Walden Golf Club has a fantastic reputation for the quality of its golf course, its catering and its staff. We are looking for a passionate food and beverage professional who wants to be part of our team.
The successful candidate will assist and deputise for the Bar and Catering Manager and assist in the development, supervision and training of staff to ensure the highest quality of bar and food service is always provided to members and visitors.
Working alongside the Bar and Catering Manager, Chefs and the Administration Department to promote, advertise and develop the internal and external business at the club to maintain its profitable contribution to the business.
Main Responsibilities
- To ensure the daily standard of presentation of the bar & restaurant areas is of the quality expected by members and visitors.
- To ensure staff provide the highest possible level of service and presentation to both member, guest and function/event.
- To work with the Head Chef in planning, presentation and execution of service to the member/customer.
- To work with the Administration Department to coordinate Functions/Events ensuring diary system is kept up to date and all necessary administration is completed.
- To deputise in the Bar and Catering Managers absence and meet daily with each ‘service team’ to set expectations, plan and discuss any events, matches or functions that day.
- To ensure current Health and Safety and other relevant legislation is adhered to.
- To assist the Bar and Catering Manager in maintaining appropriate levels of bar stocks and ensure orders are placed through the appropriate source.
- To assist in developing and supporting staff through continuous professional development and training
- To ensure the clubhouse is always maintained and presented professionally.
- To assist in the management of the kitchen, bar and waiting rotas to ensure they are effective and appropriate through the various peaks and lows of footfall.
- To assist in the approval and authorisation of staff time sheets at end of each shift
- To manage the days takings ensuring Invoice and Credit books are kept up to date.
- To be responsible for the end of day procedures regarding securing the premises and alarms.
- Any other duties as directed by the General Manager or Bar and Catering Manager.
