Job Title: Digital Technologies Support Officer

Location: City of Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College

Salary: £29,346 – £36,417 per annum

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

The Digital Technologies Support Officer provides whole academy support in the use of technology to aid teaching and learning, and more generally technology to aid running the Sixth Form College.

This role will see IT Services bridge the gap between college-based IT systems and curriculum areas.

The role is hands-on working with technology and systems within college, working alongside staff and students to support them in and around lessons and all elements of usable technology. There is also an operational leadership element to the role, working with IT Services Management to support the Digital strategy.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To participate in college and/or Trust processes as required.
  • To comply with the Trusts policies and codes of practice in relation to Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity and Quality Assurance.
  • To work flexibly in the interests of the Trust as required.
  • To participate in the relevant Performance Management Scheme and undertake staff development activities as appropriate.
  • To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults you are responsible for, or come into contact with, and outside of this, to exercise vigilance at all times.
  • To be a nominated first aider and undertake relevant training, as necessary.
  • To be aware of the policy, procedures and safe working practices expected of all staff relating to the processing of personal information and Data Protection.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide high quality support for users of college and Trust systems across the team’s area of responsibility; including advising staff and students supporting the vision of the College in delivering outstanding technology for curriculum areas.
  • To support the development of the Microsoft 365 tenancy for the Potteries Educational Trust.
  • To provide advice and assistance to users in a clear and professional manner recommending solutions and products whilst ensuring compliance with agreed policies and procedures.
  • To support and maintain specialist IT equipment and solutions developed or implemented by teams across the College.
  • Be part of the IT Services team in delivering projects across the College and/or Trust.
  • To install, maintain and configure hardware and/or software complying with agreed standards and record keeping
  • To undertake monitoring and reporting tasks to maintain the effective operation of services, acting on known errors and documented workarounds, logging actions and advising supervisor or specialists when management or specialist attention is required.
  • To provide an effective interface between users and service providers, including external commercial suppliers where applicable.
  • To provide training and guidance on the effective use of systems, products and services, providing information on the full range of capabilities to assist users in making more effective use of technology.
  • Carry out routine networking tasks and maintenance following agreed standards and procedures.
  • To participate in projects to introduce and update IT systems and services and to roll out these services to users.
  • To work in accordance with policies and standards aligned with security of data, GDPR and system security.
  • To support the IT initiatives driven through various IT Frameworks, such as DfE Digital Standards and Cyber Essentials to ensure compliance with recommendations, policies and standards.
  • Support AV and event requirements within college and across the Trust, as required.
  • Undertake reasonable duties as per seniority and grade.
