Job Title: Driver

Based: Unit 7a, Odhams Trading Estate, St Albans Road, Watford, WD24 7RY

Hours of work: 40 hours per week average on a rota, 5 days out of 7 – routes start at 5.00am, all with a 30-minute break.

Main purpose of role

Delivery of ambient, chilled and frozen products safely and efficiently to customers at designated locations within set timeframes and planned routes. Ensures proper handling and delivery of products with a high standard of customer care.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Driving a 3.5t Company vehicle on a pre-determined multi-drop route, vehicles pre-loaded
  • Ensure that the correct goods are delivered to the correct customer, completing the relevant paperwork
  • To follow the relevant route sheets for the order of van deliveries and to complete all the relevant documentation
  • To regularly update the delivery instructions for all drops on daily routes to enable other drivers to deliver successfully e.g. names of roads and clear instructions for access to customers’ premises, places to park
  • To drive and park in a manner that is safe and legal. The Driver is responsible for any fines for road traffic offences, parking, bus lanes etc.
  • Keeps company vehicle clean and ensure it is well-maintained, has fuel, oil and is ready to drive Communicates with customers by phone to update them of time of deliveries if there have been issues or changes to their estimated time of arrival
  • Follows pre-planned route accurately without deviation from set course
  • Maintains communication with management to be informed of any change of delivery, route or schedule
  • Properly uses and maintains delivery equipment, including handheld PDA Ensure goods are delivered in good condition
  • Ensure vehicle is safe to drive, and is clean inside and out
  • Report any vehicle defect to the Transport Team Leader
  • Informs management of any obstructions to making safe, efficient deliveries on time

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points)
  • No driving disqualifications within the last Three years
  • Minimum of 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including Maths and English

Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of London and the South of England

Experience Required

  • Min of 2 years commercial driving experience (will be checked via references)
  • Experience of multi-drop environment
  • Food service driving experience

Other

  • Must be 21 years of age or older to comply with our insurance requirements
  • May have to lift heavy products and be capable of climbing in and out of the Company vehicles
