Job Title: EDI Programme Manager (Athena Swan)

Location: Lancaster

Salary: £46,974 to £54,395 per year

Job type: This full-time indefinite position

The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity to work as part of the University’s EDI+ team, specifically as the lead advisor for progressing the gender equality agenda. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to programme manage the requirements of the Institutional Athena Swan award and to ensure faculties have the support systems in place to successfully manage their own submissions and action plans.

You will manage the work of the Athena Swan Implementation Group, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on progress. You will work closely with University Executives, who champion particular work packages, to make progress. The University intends to submit for its next institutional Athena Swan award in 2025, and your role will not only be to evidence positive change achieved to date but also to programme manage the development of the University’s next submission.

Based within the University’s EDI+ team, you will work closely with the Race Equality Charter Programme Manager and the EDI Manager to ensure programmes of work positively impact all protected characteristics. You will have line management responsibility for the EDI Project Officer (Athena Swan) and be in regular contact with other teams within People and Organisational Effectiveness including Rewards, HR Operations, Organisational Development and HR Systems. You will routinely engage with representatives from faculties, academic departments and professional services.

You will have knowledge and experience of gender equality issues. You will possess highly effective interpersonal, influencing and communication skills (both oral and written) coupled with an ability to manage a programme of work effectively. Experience of working successfully with Chartermarks or similar frameworks would be desirable.
