Job Title: Electrical Engineering Staff

Location: Ratcliffe-on-Soar

Salary: £49,047 to £80,447 (Experience & Skill Dependent)

Job type: Full Time. Unlimited hours.

At Ratcliffe, we play a key role in the transition to a low carbon future, generating electricity when there is insufficient renewable power and providing security of supply to the UK. Ratcliffe is the UK’s cleanest ever coal fired power station, fitted with SCR de-NOx technology and Flue Gas Desulphurisation.

The Electrical Team at Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station are looking for experienced Electrical Engineers to fill discipline specific roles. This is an exciting time for Ratcliffe and represents a great opportunity for the right individuals to work with a diverse mix of both established and new plant and technology on a modern advanced power station. The role:

  • You will demonstrate safety leadership and drive safety performance as the number one priority.
  • You shall contribute to the leadership of a diverse team of engineering, maintenance and contract staff, driving quality and technical performance.
  • You will ensure the delivery of strategic outage and routine maintenance on the electrical systems to ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements.
  • You will take ownership of critical defects and notifications on electrical plant and apparatus to ensure station performance and business continuity are unaffected.
  • You will produce contract specifications and manage contractor services associated with the engineering and maintenance of the electrical plant and apparatus.

Who we are seeking

You will be capable of demonstrating and deploying extensive knowledge and skills in a range of varied Electrical Engineering and Maintenance work activities of a complex and non-routine nature in such a way as to maximise resource utilisation and plant availability. You must display capacity for individual responsibility and autonomy while demonstrating exemplary standards of safety culture.

Essential:

  • Applied experience of power plant electrical engineering and HV distribution systems. Maintenance of and risk management is essential.
  • A sound understanding of Power Station operations, knowledge of current regulations and policy which affect the management and operations of power plant engineering assets.
  • Contract Management skills and experience to appropriately challenge contractors on the methods, quality, and standards of work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships within the team, across functions and with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills to include effective prioritisation and resource management

Desirable:

  • Educated to a Higher National Diploma or Degree level in an Engineering discipline, supported with a sound technical knowledge of engineering and maintenance practices gained through experience.
  • National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health Certificate (NEBOSH) or equivalent qualification. With demonstrable experience and management of health, safety and environmental practices.
  • Advanced planning and resource control techniques.
  • Use and knowledge of best practice tools for resolving engineering issues to root cause level
