Job Title: Electronic Design Engineers x 2

Location: Plymouth (flexible)

Salary: Up to £40k per annum (DOE)

Job type: Full Time, permanent; hybrid / flexible working arrangements possible

Since we welcome applications from candidates interested in hybrid / flexible working arrangements, these roles would suit suitable experienced and qualified candidates who live anywhere in Cornwall and much of Devon. In some cases we may be able to consider candidates living further away (eg Taunton, Bridgwater, Bristol) as long as they can attend our site in Saltash, Plymouth for occasional required meetings, collaboration & wellbeing sessions.

We continue to develop our in-house expertise, employing over 130 people across a range of design, manufacturing, supply chain, testing, engineering and project disciplines.

We now seek two Electronic Design Engineers to become key members of our Research & Design team. The R&D focus is on new and cutting-edge solutions for our existing sectors and new sectors as we diversify and grow the business. Forming part of a small, talented team, this is an exciting position within the business and offers variety, stimulation and challenge and a chance to make a real contribution.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing novel, practical, and innovative solutions to design requirements and design / product issues.
  • Researching and proving new solutions; supporting designs through to production.
  • Design, develop and test electronic circuits, ensuring the design meets requirements.
  • Plan PCB layout to meet required performance electrically, mechanically, and environmentally.
  • Oversee the manufacture of prototype PCB assemblies, and create appropriate process & documentation to allow the timely, cost effective and quality manufacture of the PCB.
  • Complete verification & validation processes on designed electronics, and generate reports on the designs / systems within which they may integrate.
  • Pre-compliance EMC tests for all products, to provide a high level of confidence in the product being able to pass the required legislative testing and to ensure the product is robust for the market within which it is to be used.
  • Work in partnership with our Production Engineers to ensure all designs are fully testable by providing clear and concise test requirement specifications.
  • Partner with our Purchasing team on technical issues faced by suppliers and source new components to ensure an acceptable supply chain can be maintained in Production.
  • In collaboration with our other teams, provide required technical support on released products.

About you:

  • You will demonstrate previous experience and success within an electronics design engineering role, together with the suitable supporting qualifications (HND or above in Electronic Engineering).
  • An excellent communicator, you will possess strong collaboration skills, able to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external, maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Possessing strong computer literacy, you will be self-motivated, focused, well-organised and able to multi-task and work to deadlines.
  • The nature of the role requires flexibility be shown both in terms of duties and may require UK or international travel from time to time.
