About Us

Founded in 1997, GamCare is the leading provider of information, advice and support for anyone affected by gambling harms. We operate the National Gambling Helpline, provide treatment for anyone who is harmed by gambling, create awareness about safer gambling and treatment, and encourage an effective approach to safer gambling within the gambling industry.

The Role

This is a great time to join GamCare as we’re recruiting an Engagement Team Leader for our Gambling Awareness and Prevention Programme (GAP), which is an opportunity for someone who is experienced with national stakeholder engagement and designing strategies to reach specific professional and voluntary cohorts.

GAP is a new three-year Programme, funded by GambleAware to deliver quality, consistent and relevant gambling engagement and training to organisations working with those at risk of gambling harm across England, Scotland and Wales. The Programme covers seven sectors: debt advisors, housing/homelessness staff, faith/cultural and community leaders, community pharmacists, primary care and social care workers, and occupational health providers.

The Engagement Team Leader is a new role designed to oversee GAP’s national and regional engagement work, and it involves designing stakeholder strategies for each of the seven sectors, as well as supervising a small team of Engagement Leads who will engage organisations on a regional level.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will oversee the development and rollout of an engagement strategy for each of the seven sectors, in order to persuade organisations to embed gambling harm reduction practices for the people they work with.

With demonstrable experience of research, stakeholder engagement, relationship building and line management, you will have honed your skills in securing buy-in from a range of organisations in order to enact real change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce sector-specific engagement strategies in order to maximise effectiveness of work with each cohort
  • Line manage 2 Engagement Leads and matrix manage 3 partner-employed Engagement Leads in order to coordinate regional engagement work and support ELs to build meaningful relationships
  • Engage directly with national or multi-regional organisations to encourage embedding of gambling harm screening and referral
  • Support the GAP Training Programme by ensuring a seamless referral from engagement work into training
  • Coordinate the evaluation of the Programme’s engagement work through application of the GAP evaluation framework, ensuring the programme continues to demonstrate impact

Benefits You Can Enjoy

  • 33 days basic annual leave entitlement per annum (pro-rated for part-time colleagues) including bank holidays which increases with service
  • A generous Pension Scheme – we contribute 6% and you contribute 2%.
  • Discretionary company sick pay from day one of service.
  • Employee Assistance Programme – 24-hour support
  • Cycle to Work Scheme

GamCare are committed to offering the best support to people affected by gambling harms, as such we welcome applications from candidates with lived experience.
