Job Title: Estimating Engineer – Metallics & Composites

Location: India Mill, Darwen

Salary: £30,000 – £38,000 per annum based on skills, experience, and relevant qualifications

Job Type: Permanent, Full time

Hours: 4-day week Monday to Thursday 07:15 am to 5:00 pm totalling 37 hours weekly.

We offer a range of capabilities, including manufacturing composite components, metallics, sheet metalwork, fabrication, machining and treatments.

If you are a highly experienced Estimating Engineer with at least five years of working experience within an aerospace/manufacturing environment, this could be the ideal role for you.

Here is what you can expect to be doing:

The Estimating Engineer (Metallics & Composites) is responsible for estimating enquiries for aerospace structural components and assemblies primarily based around Metallic & Composites structures & Surface Treatments including Painting. If required, provide completed requests for quotation summaries to customers, including but not limited to:

Metallics

  • Flat and formed metallic details
  • Metallic fabricated assemblies
  • Metal to Metal bonding
  • Routing and 5-axis machining of metallic components & details
  • Protective Surface Treatments
  • Painting

Composites:

  • Carbon Composites and Glass Fibre details and assemblies
  • Understanding the detail of Composite assembly
  • Routing and 5-axis machining of Carbon Composites, Glass Fibre

About you:

  • Engineering trade qualification at HNC level or equivalent
  • Estimating in an Aerospace Manufacturing environment
  • Understand ply books, ply data and final composite drawing detail
  • Conversant with a wide range of Composite processes
  • Understand the difference between low-volume and high-volume strategies
  • Ability to understand & extract key information from engineering drawings & Bills of Material
  • Ability to manipulate arithmetic data with a high degree of accuracy in time-limited situations
  • Computer literate – advanced level Excel knowledge
  • Enthusiastic, proactive & organised
