Job Title: Event Manager

Location: Hartland, Bideford EX39 6BS

Salary: £11,153 – Part Time

Job type: 2 days per week

This Role is office based 2 days per week as maternity cover.

This Job requires proof of eligibility to work within the United Kingdom.

The Resurgence Trust is seeking to employ an enthusiastic individual to cover our existing Event Manager whilst she is on maternity leave. This role would suit someone with excellent organisational and time management skills and an understanding of the Trust’s ethos.

The Role

The Event Manager is a key role within The Resurgence Trust.

Our vision is for the Resurgence Centre to be a vibrant hub for learning for all ages, with a focus on environmental education and the arts. We aim to develop a high-quality programme that reflects the ethos of the Trust and is diverse, relevant, tells important stories, is entertaining, thought-provoking and resonates with our audience.

Your Responsibilities

With input from the Management Team, the Event Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of an environmental education and arts programme that reflects the ethos of the Resurgence Trust.

Programme Development:

  • Primarily responsible for creating an exciting, inspiring and diverse programme of courses, workshops and talks, in person and online.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of our event programmes.
  • Monitor and assess the quality of delivery, identifying any areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that the programme is financially viable and implemented within budget.
  • Marketing activities including event promotion.
  • Administration relating to events including updating listings on the website.
  • An important part of the role will be to develop partnerships with educational charities, as well as arts and other cultural enterprises.

Recruitment and Management:

  • With the support of the Management Team, source and select outstanding and appropriately qualified teachers and instructors to deliver the programme.
  • Manage venue hire by individuals and organisations

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining centre resources and equipment.
  • Support other programmes within the Trust.
  • Other Ad Hoc office support.

Essential Requirements:

  • Enthusiastic, energetic individual, passionate about working in environmental education.
  • Supportive of the values, principles and holistic philosophy of The Resurgence Trust.
  • Proven experience as an Event Manager with a developed knowledge of environmental education or the visual arts (min 2 years’ experience), including a proven track record of managing multiple courses/events.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of supervising and supporting staff, including volunteers, teachers and course providers.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Computer literate and competent using Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience required:

  • Experience of writing risk assessments and ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Experience of adding content to websites via CMS.
  • Sound understanding of the current challenges in the environmental/education landscape.
  • A strong track record of stakeholder engagement and communications with a variety of audiences, preferably in the education, environmental or arts sector.
  • Previous experience of working with children and adult in an Arts or Education setting.
  • Full, clear driving licence with car
