About the role:

We run a full and varied programme of events throughout the year and now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Events Manager to join our team.

The role is a fantastic combination of strategic planning and operational delivery. You will have the opportunity to bring fresh and creative ideas to our visitor and events programme and will work in close collaboration with our Marketing team to develop this offer.

You’ll need to be equally at home in a hands-on Duty Management position, communicating well, resolving issues and being able to manage a number of priorities at any one time.

Key Duties:

  • Liaise with Heads of Departments, the Events Manager, Visitor Experience Manager and Event Leads to develop the plan for the forthcoming year
  • Work with the Events Manager, Visitor Experience Manager, Heads of Departments and Event Leads to develop a cohesive yearly visitor programme that meets our strategy and target audiences
  • Agree with Heads of Departments and the Events Manager who will be the Event Lead for each event or series of events and provide support as required
  • Develop a pricing structure for events and share this with Event Leads, helping them implement if required
  • Work with the Visitor Experience Manager, Events Manager and Event Leads on ticket sales analysis so that additional marketing can be implemented to support maximum ticket sales
  • Work with the Events Manager to develop key performance indicators for events and share with Event Leads so that both financial performance and visitor engagement can be measured
  • Preparing health and safety risk assessments, method statements and Event Management Plan
  • Fulfil the role of Event Lead on a range of events as agreed with the Events Manager and Visitor Operations Manager
  • Co-ordinating site logistics and contractor briefings, and supporting external event organisers and clients
  • Providing information about the availability of spaces, quotes, and carrying out site visits
  • Reviewing the event industry for new ideas, concepts and opportunities
  • Inspecting sites before their occupation, formally handing over sites to event organisers, regular checks of works on the sites before, during and after events, and formally accepting sites back from organisers on completion of the event
  • Assisting with the physical set up and dismantling of events, including the management of contractors and suppliers and the distribution and return of events equipment / stores and vehicles as required
  • To consider sustainability as part of event management, particularly in relation to reduction in waste/separation of waste
  • Have Duty Management responsibilities three to four days per week ensuring that you go and see teams to provide support and a better understanding of our visitor offer across Holkham Enterprises
  • Support Heads of Department to develop their visitor programme and wider offer to ensure that our visitor offer is fresh, creative and engaging to our full visitor demographic both ensuring repeat visits and developing our audience
  • Develop relationships with event partners and look for opportunities to grow and develop new partnerships including preparing partnership contracts
  • Research opportunities to diversify our audience, engage with visitors and understand new and emerging trends that are relevant for the Holkham brand

About You:

  • Experience of working within visitor experience or operations at a visitor attraction
  • Experience of events industry, ideally of planning, delivery and review
  • Excellent planning skills to enable the development of a co-ordinated programme and the planning and delivery of events
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to support others to be creative/innovative
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships (internally and externally)
  • Be motivated by working collaboratively with others
  • Experience of managing others, ideally working within a Duty Management capacity
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and have strong operational and problem-solving skills
