Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Engineer / Manager

Location: Station Road, Dorking Surrey, RH4 1HQ

Salary: £35k to £38k pa

Job type: Part Time/Permanent – Monday to Friday 9am to 1pm (Flexibility with these hours to suit)

The Company:

Carville is a well-established Contract Precision Engineering company, specialists in CNC machining, complex plastic components. Carville customers include global, blue-chip companies in industries including in the Life Science and Medical Device sectors.

The Role:

Primary responsibility for ensuring that the site and systems (Electrical Distribution, Compressed Air, Plumbing, Drainage, Lighting and Ventilation) are always in good operational condition. On a day-by-day basis responsible wherever possible for hands on maintenance engineering of factory equipment. Building Maintenance requirements also include hands on site/facilities upkeep and managing sub-contractor partners within repair, maintenance, and upgrade projects. The CNC machines themselves are not a core part of the role as an external service/repair partner covers these. Alongside building and equipment maintenance tasks this role supports facility changes and new equipment installation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing contractors including reviewing RAMS arrangements and covering site inductions.
  • Responding to equipment breakdowns and facilities failures.
  • Diagnosing issues and faults where possible.
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance.
  • Undertaking basic equipment repairs as required.
  • Researching and sourcing spare parts and maintenance materials/tools.
  • Identifying suitable contractors for specific works.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Devising and recording maintenance procedures.
  • Managing Maintenance Supplies and Materials stocks.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Good understanding of general premises maintenance (Electrics, Plumbing, building & carpentry)
  • Hands on fault finding, maintenance and engineering skills
  • Recognised training/apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Health and Safety awareness and experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
  • Working with and managing sub-contractors.

Nice to have:

  • Recognised Basic Electrical Maintenance qualification.
  • Forklift licence
