Location: Shipley / Keighley

Salary: £17,653 – £19,698 per annum (pro rata)

Job Type: Permanent, Part Time – 30 Hours

JAMES is part of the Young Lives Bradford consortium with Project 6, E-merge, YMCA and Barnardos to deliver a one to one keyworker service to 10-14 year olds on evenings and weekends when they are more vulnerable to risks.

We are currently looking for a part time Family Aide Worker as part of our partnership with Barnardos, YMCA and Brathay.

Are you keen to support Families in the Keighley and Shipley areas, working alongside a lead practitioner to meet actions on a family plan?

About the role

You’ll provide, practical family support which improves parenting capacity, access to employment and training and educational attendance of children in line with Bradford Early Help targets and outcomes.

You’ll need to work with parents and their children in their homes, outside of core office hours, to increase the skills, confidence, and abilities of all family members to live their daily lives in a positive and safe way.

Key Duties

  • To offer emotional and practical hands on support to parents and their children in their own homes and in the community
  • To complete targeted pieces of work that are detailed within an Early Help plan informed by a Family Assessment and coordinated by a lead practitioner
  • To ensure you have an understanding of, and comply with JAMES procedures for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults
  • To build a trusting relationship with the parents, children and young people to help alleviate or break their social isolation and increase capacity
  • To build up knowledge and understanding of local resources and community and statutory services
  • To work alongside colleagues to assess the needs of the families referred for support and participate in the reviews and evaluation of the work
  • To comply and contribute actively to the required monitoring of outcomes for the service, including use of a dedicated scaling tool
  • To help plan creative and innovative responses to families’ needs and keep high quality records and assist with the preparation of reports
  • To attend conferences, review meetings, supervision and training sessions as requested

About you:

  • An appropriate health and social care qualification or equivalent to at least level 2 (youth work, support, care, education etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience of direct work with families who have complex needs and understanding of the Bradford Early Help framework
  • Ability to give accurate information and practical support to family members of all ages
  • Understanding of safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults
  • Experience of working in culturally diverse communities
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to write clear and accurate reports and use regular IT packages
  • The ability to reflect on own practice; undertake training advice and constructive feedback
  • Ability to work hours in a flexible way, including hours around school attendance time
