Salary: Circa £23,000 per annum, depending on experience

About the role:

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join the current Finance Team and support the finance function in all activities.

Following recent, and expected continued, successful growth, the company is now restructuring its finance and administrative functions including the creation of the new role of Finance Administrator. This role covers a broad scope of purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank and general financial reconciliation responsibilities in addition to general office duties associated with being part of small but growing close-knit team.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

Sales ledger, purchase ledger, cost control and bank:

  • Analysis of costs of sales from supplier invoices and ensuring that these have been properly and promptly recharged to customers.
  • Arranging, monitoring and controlling the movement of goods via suppliers, couriers and customers.
  • Month end reconciliations of products charged by suppliers but not yet invoiced to customers (in-house and 3rd party stock / work in progress).
  • Reconciling and updating various financial records for both control and management reporting purposes.
  • Controlling and arranging engineer accommodation costs when overnight stays are required.
  • Ensuring renewals of customers’ domain and email registrations, firewall and security licences are kept up to date and order on time.
  • Resolving any queries relating to purchase invoicing.
  • Checking on a daily basis that bank transactions have been identified, confirmed as valid and posted to the company’s accounting records.

Personal Requirements:

  • At least 3 years’ experience of working in a dynamic office environment with direct hands on experience of processing financial transactions and using accounting software packages.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft products, particularly Excel and Word, essential.
  • Experience of using Xero and ERP systems would be useful but not essential.
  • An analytical, methodical and thorough approach to work is necessary for this role.
  • The successful candidate will need to take personal ownership of the direct prime responsibilities of this role but also have a flexible and willing attitude as a team player regarding any non-core duties which may be required as part of a general busy office.
