With a strong focus on future growth and business improvement we are now looking for an Finance Manager to provide hands-on leadership and management of the UK Finance department. This is a highly visible role that requires working closely with the Daniels Global CFO and the Sharpsmart UK Senior Leadership team.

The UK Finance Manager is responsible for leading the Finance Reporting functions, lifting the engagement of the Finance Team as well as setting the highest professional standards as a benchmark will be key to the success of this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Finance Leadership

  • Provide strong financial reporting integrity and analytical review of financial results, ensuring proper maintenance of all general ledger accounts and financial transactions
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, for management review and for bank reporting, and coordinate annual audit
  • Co-ordinate the annual budgeting process; and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate
  • Work closely with operations and sales managers, provide financial support for commercial activities, and establish finance and administrative systems
  • Maintain and develop internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, capital costs, and expenditures
  • Oversee payroll, ensure correct accounting and payroll tax remittances
  • Assist and provide guidance on HMRC compliance
  • Analytical review and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
  • Ensure accurate billing of customers is provided on a timely basis
  • Responsible for cash and cash reporting, receivables and collections, and vendor payments
  • Responsibility for the annual external audit
  • Responsibility for legal and company secretarial activities
  • Responsibility for tax compliance in conjunction with the Group Tax Manager
  • Other duties as required by Management

Team Leadership

  • Leverage strengths of the current team members and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals
  • Coach 4 direct report accounting team members (this team will grow)
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ACA or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years’ of Accounting experience gained at an Accounting firm (Practice). Experience leading people.
  • Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
  • Capable of managing projects and time in order to meet crucial deadline
