Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: 47 North John Street, New Barratt House (3rd Floor) Liverpool, L2 6SG

Salary: £24k – £27k (pro rata) per annum for 21 hours per week – Your starting salary will be based on experience (within range specified).

Job type: Part Time, Permanent – 21 hours per week to be worked on days and times to be agreed with the successful candidate. Some homeworking possible.

Please note – The successful candidate will be required to work from our city centre liverpool office 1-3 times per week depending

Job Description

The Role:

Connect has identified an exciting opportunity to recruit a Finance Manager to take charge of all financial areas of our business, working closely with the Senior Management team.

We are an SME and are keen to hear from finance professionals with a full understanding of SME finances. The role will be varied and interesting, with tasks ranging from the day-to-day management of our finance function, for example raising sales orders and invoices, to creating and implementing strategic financial planning. This role provides all the financial support to the company, so you must be able to work independently.

Many of our clients are public sector organisations with financial processes in place, so debt management whilst important, is not onerous.

Main tasks:

  • Managing the whole financial activity of the company
  • Ensuring strong financial management and a controlled environment, maximising the efficiency of our financial procedures and informing the strategic goals of the company
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records
  • Taking responsibility for, amongst other elements, accruals and prepayments, profit and loss, balance sheets and cashflow
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and year end accounts, reporting relevant information to the Directors
  • Producing financial forecasts
  • Identifying potential risks and mitigating against these
  • Producing and monitoring management information and KPIs
  • Adding value through reporting and analysis
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets in line with strategic objectives
  • Liaising with our Financial Advisor and Auditors
  • Ensuring excellent credit control
  • Creating and issuing sales orders and invoices in a timely manner
  • Using and updating software to track sales, invoicing and spending
  • Other duties as required

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience with accounting software e.g. Xero or Sage
  • Expert in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a financial management role
  • Excellent understanding of UK financial practices
  • Experience of working effectively and cooperatively within a team
  • Able to work independently and engage with colleagues across all roles
  • Current knowledge of accounting standards and best practice
  • Perform all duties with integrity and professionalism

Desirable Requirements:

  • Previous experience of running a finance function in an SME
  • Qualifications in Accountancy
  • We use Xero accounting software and experience with this would be beneficial
  • An interest or familiarity in digital technology would be ideal
