About the role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Finance Manager and working closely with the other Finance Officers, you will form an integral part of the Finance Team keeping all financial data up to date and supporting Bletchley Park Trust and its mission.

The Finance Team sits within Support Services at Bletchley Park Trust, and as such, strives to provide an excellent service to all of our colleagues. To do this it is essential that we demonstrate a high standard in our work, providing accurate and timely information. It is this foundation which enables Finance to support the wider organisation with reliable data and insights and the Finance Officer will be an important factor in delivering this.

Key Responsibilities:

Purchase ledger:

  • Processing purchase invoices on the accounting system, ensuring invoices are approved and correctly coded
  • Paying purchase invoices in accordance with supplier credit terms and in accordance with our BACS process
  • Reconciling monthly supplier statements to the accounting system to identify missing invoices, requesting copies
  • Raising cheque or BACS payments for any other expenses as appropriate
  • Monitoring and processing staff credit card expenditure

Sales ledger and credit control:

  • Raising sales invoices, as requested, for educational visits, group visits, filming, royalties, catering commission and for rent and relevant recharges to the tenants of the Bletchley Park Trust
  • Undertaking credit control duties to ensure the aged debtors are kept to a minimum
  • Producing monthly statements for clients and tenants
  • Allocating BACS receipts against the appropriate sales ledger
  • Raising and posting any refunds required.

Bank accounts:

  • Recording and reconciliation of daily cash takings and ensuring the prompt banking of all income received
  • Recording groups income on Excel and posting onto the accounting system, including reconciliation to banking and daily credit card receipts
  • Posting non- purchase ledger direct debits and other payments as appropriate, securing appropriate paperwork
  • Posting non- sales leger BACS or other receipts as appropriate

About you:

The successful candidate will have proven experience in general financial duties including processing income and expenditure, using computerised accounts packages, and with a proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel. Key attributes include being highly numerate, organised, and demonstrating an attention to detail. A team player who builds first class working relationships, with the ability to work independently with excellent communication skills is required for this role; along with being helpful, honest, inquisitive and adaptable to change.

  • The salary is £24,000 – £26,000 per annum (pro-rata for part time) depending on experience
  • Benefits include 33 days holiday per annum (pro rata if part time), including statutory holidays

The full-time hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week, although applications for part time or working as part of a job share will also be welcomed.
