Salary: £26,972 – £30,654 per annum

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Working Hours: 35 hrs per week -flexible working (2 days / week home working)

Bushbury Hill EMB is a tenant-led housing service provider, operating from their Management Centre on Kempthorne Avenue in Low Hill, Wolverhampton.

About the Role:

Bushbury Hill EMB has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Business Services Officer to work as part of our Business Services Team undertaking a wide range of finance and bookkeeping duties.

The role of a Business Services Officer entails a range of essential finance responsibilities. You will oversee the bookkeeping functions, ensuring accurate maintenance of our financial records. This encompasses tracking purchases, sales, receipts, and payments with precision. You’ll work closely with the Business Services Manager to ensure the accurate recording of all day-to-day financial transactions.

You will also play a crucial role in monitoring and recording government-secured grant funding. This important task requires close collaboration with our community outreach contractors and auditors to guarantee strict adherence to all financial regulations. Being able to use Sage Cloud Accounting Software is an essential requirement for this position.

About you:

Experience:

  • Minimum three years’ experience in a financial environment
  • Knowledge of the Sage accounting system is a requirement for this role
  • General bookkeeping experience gained in the private, public, or voluntary sectors.
  • Knowledge of working for a local authority or housing association or an understanding of a TMO and tenant participation would be an advantage, but this is not essential.

  • Ability to manage situations in which customers are unhappy about the level or quality of service, to find solutions to problems.
  • Ability to demonstrate Bushbury core competencies and develop those that are less strong than others.

Communication:

  • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely whether verbally or in writing, with a wide range of audiences both formal and informal
  • Computer literate – self-servicing and able to undertake own correspondence, write reports, and use simple spreadsheets
  • Ability to maintain accurate written and financial records

Report writing skills:

  • Managing workload and delivering results
  • Ability to plan and manage own workload, plan ahead, and work flexibly to meet changing work priorities and demands
  • Ability to take initiative, make decisions, take action to resolve problems, and learn from own mistakes
  • Attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

Working with others:

  • Ability to work proactively within a team and keep colleagues and managers informed of issues and concerns.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues both inside and outside the organisation

Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of office systems and processes and ability to develop knowledge and skills in finance, HR and business administration to support the work of the Business Services Manager in providing accurate financial records for Bushbury.

Education and Training:

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent – minimum of five GCSE’s at grade C or above including Maths and English
  • Willingness and ability to undertake relevant qualifications in finance, and business administration
  • Demonstrable commitment to personal development and in developing knowledge of housing services and tenant led organisations
