Job Title: Financial Accountant – Analyst (Part Qualified/ QBE)

Location: Basildon, Essex

Salary: Up to £32000 – £36000 per annum

The role:

Pathology First is part of the SYNLAB Group of companies and are currently looking to recruit a Qualified Management Accountant to join their dynamic team. The position is based at out state of the art facility based in Basildon, Essex and may require some travel to Southend.

Purpose of the role include:

To assist with the performance of daily accounting activities, with the ability to analyse & perform detailed review on Month end and financial reports – including detailed Trend by department (min. 2 yrs experience required). Reconciliation and verification of financial data and documents under the supervision of the Financial Controller

  • Responsible for delivering the Monthly Management Accounts, to include:
    • Detailed analysis of Revenue & Cost of sales
    • Cost, variance & Trend analysis
    • Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations
    • Prepare and post Month end journals
    • Sales invoicing and credit control
    • Maintaining the Fixed Assets register, Prepayments schedule and Lease schedules
    • Detailed Departmental analysis and Review with management
    • Liaise with suppliers and outsourced AP agency
    • Inventory Management
  • Assist with statutory audit (as required)
  • Assist with preparation of VAT and Corporation tax (as required)
  • Assist with preparation and operation of budgets,
  • Assist with preparation and operation of cash flows, including preparing schedules and reconciliations
  • Provide support and cover for Management Accountant
  • Oversee Accountant

Essential Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Part Qualified ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • A fast learner with excellent attention to detail
  • Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving environment
  • A result driven individual with the confidence to interact positively with non-finance and senior management
  • Excellent Analytical skills, Keen to learn – inquisitive, with good report writing and communication skills demonstrating the ability to explain complex, technical information to non-financial staff.
  • Advanced Excel skills

Desirable

  • Healthcare sector experience
  • Demonstrable understanding of, and ability to create, budgets and business cases
  • Able to understand and create cash flow projections and statements
  • Basic knowledge of stock records and systems
  • Evidence of agreeing and achieving realistic and relevant objectives demonstrating a focused / goal orientated approach
  • Good knowledge of how a business operates
  • Basic knowledge of auditing standards
  • Basic knowledge of CT, VAT, PAYE
  • SAGE 200 user
