Job Title: Front of House Security Officer (Bag Search/Static Guarding/Patrol)

Location: Kensington Palace

Salary: £10.55 per hour

Job Type: Part Time, Temporary & Permanent

The Organisation is the charity responsible for the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace, Banqueting House and Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland. They help everyone explore the stories of how monarchs and people helped shape society in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

They currently have three part time vacancies in the Security Department at Kensington Palace for Front of House Security Officers working a 4 on, 4 off, days-only shift pattern. The main areas of work will be in the searching of visitors’ bags entering their premises, static guarding in specific locations and elements of patrolling work.

The Role:

You will be part of the Security Team ensuring the provision of a safe and secure environment to all visitors, staff residents and guests. You must have high moral and ethical standards and treat all persons with dignity and respect, where values underpin all that you do.

You must demonstrate a high level of motivation and enthusiasm, to provide the very best environment in which to live and work for all persons and customers – both internal and external. You will provide both a high level of customer care security awareness and provide support for their other visitor frontline teams.

Duties will include:

  • Meeting and greeting visitors
  • Bag searches
  • Controlling all pedestrian and vehicle activity and access to the Palace including key control
  • Taking regular patrols, enhancing security levels and maintaining a vigilant presence
  • Responding to alarms, escalated security incidents and suspicious behaviour
  • Providing a safe and secure environment for visitors, staff and residents
  • Meeting corporate clients and VIP for evening functions
  • Dealing with Metropolitan Police and Emergency Services when required
  • Managing the Business reception desk, offering a welcoming and professional point of contact for visitors and contractors
  • Projecting a smart, efficient and helpful image at all times

The Candidate:

They are looking for someone who can work both as part of a team and on their own. Holder of a current SIA licence, you must possess the ability to think and act quickly and decisively in emergencies or under pressure. You would be able to use your own initiative to identify better ways of working and ensure excellent customer service.

The ideal candidates will demonstrate excellent customer-facing skills, knowledge of basic security principles and preferably have experience of working in customer-facing heritage or corporate environment

Working Hours:

Contract 1 – 20.46 hours per week, 10:30-15:00 (Winter) 10:30-17:00 (Summer)

Contract 2 – 18.71 hours per week, 10:30-15:00 (Winter) 10:30-16:30 (Summer) (9 Month Contract)

Contract 3 – 13.43 hours per week, 12:00-15:30 (Winter), 12:00-16:00 (Summer) (3 Month Contract)
