Job Title: Functional Skills Coach

Location: Loughborough

Salary: £11.35 per hour

Job type: Part time 30 hours a week – Fixed-term until March 2025

Falcon Support Services provides supported accommodation and community projects to those that are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or vulnerable in the community. Our service helps vulnerable people by providing safe and secure accommodation with our staff working alongside clients to help them develop their skills, so they can move away from homelessness to living independently and positively contribute to their community.

The Role

As a Coach you will provide support to customers identified as vulnerable, homeless or at risk of homelessness, in need of additional support to sustain their tenancy.

We will support those to access appropriate opportunities to better manage their money and enter meaningful employment, training, or education.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Must have access to a vehicle for business purposes with business insurance and Valid driving license.
  • Exceptional confidence in numeracy, numbers, maths, and budgeting
  • Experience of empowering individuals to make informed choices/positive change
  • Experience of creating and running workshops or low-level training courses
  • The ability to understand the needs of people from diverse, cultural, social and racial backgrounds

Main Responsibilities

  • To work with clients on identified support needs, empowering clients to make positive changes and informed choices in moving forward
  • You will encourage and support customers to budget appropriately and promote debt prevention and accountability
  • Develop workshops to improve confidence with numeracy skills
  • Improve capability of those to manage money through income maximisation and budgeting
  • work co-operatively with other members of the team including volunteers, constructively contributing to team meetings, and assisting with the smooth running of the service
  • To show willingness to and does assist and cover for colleagues and/or volunteers when they are absent
