Job Title: Fundraising & Bid Writing Manager

Location: Kettering

Salary: £29,000 – £31,000

About the role:

The motivated and talented Fundraising and Bid Writing Manager will help us grow and diversify our income streams, as well as expanding our pool of donors, to promote the financial security and sustainability of Accommodation Concern.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a Fundraising strategy which takes into account the current fundraising approach and the need to introduce new strategies to meet targets.
  • To set and achieve income targets across all funding disciplines, in particular developing strategies to maximise unrestricted income.
  • Ensure all fundraising and marketing initiatives are planned, delivered, monitored, and evaluated effectively, including the development of business cases for material investment and timely, business critical key performance indicators.
  • Lead the development of new fundraising initiatives and/or techniques as appropriate.
  • To write and negotiate fundraising applications, in consultation with the CEO and other departmental leads, as required.
  • Ability to create budgets for new projects to ensure full cost recovery is achieved in consultation with the relevant finance lead/CEO.
  • Ensure the timely submission of high-quality applications and monitoring reports are submitted as required.
  • To ensure that the grant conditions of existing funders are met, as required.
  • Analyse tender documentation and create a proposal as to whether Accommodation Concern should/should not submit a bid.
  • Ensure that all fundraising activity is conducted in adherence with best practice, ethical policies, charity law and standards.
  • To work with relevant staff and other relevant external and partner organisations to maximise all opportunities for joint fundraising and public awareness activities.
  • To support with the development and implementation of a regular giving strategy, to maximise unrestricted income.
  • To identify and coordinate effective systems for securing and maintaining potential supporters.
  • To prepare case studies and collate other reference materials to include within funding bids.
  • To meticulously proofread funding bids to ensure that they are accurate.

About you:

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in Fundraising and / or bid writing
  • A strong academic record, ideally to degree level or equivalent, in subjects demanding strong written English

Experience

Essential

  • Evidenced track record of successfully meeting and exceeding targets
  • Evidence of developing successful fundraising applications to trusts, foundations, statutory bodies, bilateral or other institutional grant funders
  • Demonstrable networking experience to build ongoing relationships
  • Experience of developing strong partnerships, particularly with Corporates, Trusts and Foundations, Major Donors

Knowledge and Understanding

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of statutory, trust and institutional fundraising, including research sources and funding criteria
  • Fundraising Regulator guidelines

Desirable

  • GDPR and data protection regulation

Aptitudes and skills

Essential

  • Outstanding communication skills, including experience of communicating effectively across varied audiences, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong financial management and budgeting skills
  • Ability to present and interpret complex information
  • Outstanding research skills, including identifying and monitoring potential funders
  • Exceptional negotiating, diplomacy and people skills
  • High attention to detail
