Job Title: Graduate or Trainee Surveyor working towards their APC

Location: Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

Salary: Up to £30,000 (plus benefits) dependant on experience

Job type: Full Time, permanent

Thomas Lister Ltd are seeking to employ a graduate or trainee surveyor who will have completed either an RICS Accredited Degree or Masters in Real Estate and may have commenced training towards becoming a Chartered Surveyor to join a team of 7 surveyors in Bromsgrove in Worcestershire.

The company have been established for over 20 years during which time 11 graduates have passed through their APC to become Chartered Surveyors whilst with the business. The business provides an excellent environment to obtain a wide range of skills across the real estate sector and meet the requirements to become a Chartered Surveyor.

Thomas Lister provides a wide range of surveying services to a range of public and private sector clients with a focus on regeneration and the development sector – both residential and commercial, where our work frequently involves the provision of advice on issues such as development appraisals, property valuations, agency advice, feasibility advice and funding programmes on development opportunities throughout the Country.

Professional / Graduate Training;

Responsibility: The appointed surveyor will initially support the surveying team across a wide range of tasks but will be encouraged to take responsibility and work independently as soon as possible. Thomas Lister operate in a team environment which encourages an exchange of ideas, knowledge and expertise.

Meeting the Requirements of the APC: The company recognise the responsibility to provide a range of work in different areas to meet the requirements of the APC and have a proven track record in this regard. An on-going review of the APC diary will be undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the appointed APC Councillor and Supervisor to ensure that an appropriate workload is provided throughout the APC period and that all selected competencies are capable of being met.

Training: The company encourage all members of staff to undertake regular training where appropriate to increase or refresh skills and meet the costs of structured training as required.

The Candidate:

  • Min 2:1 degree attained or predicted in RICS accredited undergraduate or postgraduate degree courses in Real Estate.
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Passion for the property industry
  • Willing to use creativity and initiative to deliver a value added service
  • Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and work effectively within the team.
  • Demonstration of property experience through internships and relevant work experience (desirable)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the development appraisal process (desirable).
  • A UK driving licence

Other Info:

From our Midlands base, the company supports clients throughout the Country with existing instructions from Cornwall to Newcastle Upon Tyne, ranging from advising Local Authorities on City centre regeneration sites through to the disposal of residential sites for 1,000 + new dwellings. Our workload is very varied and interesting and Thomas Lister have an excellent reputation in delivering highly complex and challenging projects and supporting government property funding initiatives on a national basis. The company are expanding through the securing of new development consultancy contracts and as part of our on-going expansion wish to employ a graduate or trainee surveyor on the basis of a new permanent contract to support this growth.
