Responsibilities:

At Knebworth Golf Club we take pride in offering an exceptional dining experience that complements our stunning golf course. We are seeking a talented and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team and elevate our dining offerings to new heights. As the Head Chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth food operation of our club. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Menu Creation: Design and develop innovative, seasonally-inspired menus that reflect the tastes and preferences of our members and guests. Ensure menu variety, considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating, to maintain the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure consistent and exceptional food quality. Conduct regular taste tests and inspections.
  • Inventory Management: Manage kitchen inventory efficiently, including ordering and monitoring stock levels to minimize waste and optimise cost control.
  • Food Hygiene: Ensure strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items.
  • Health & Safety: The Head Chef should be committed to creating a safe and healthy work environment for the kitchen team while upholding the highest standards of food quality and hygiene.
  • Event Collaboration: Collaborate with event planners to create unique dining experiences for special occasions and competitions held at the golf club.

Education & Experience:

  • Level 1,2 and 3 Food Safety Awards
  • Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award
  • Minimum 2 / 3 years relevant experience
  • Awareness of manual handling techniques
  • Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
  • Experience of kitchen equipment
  • Experience of dangerous equipment such as knives
  • Competent level of English spoken and written

General Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of all sections

  • Team management skills including training junior team members

The role is 40 hours per week – working hours can be varied to meet the needs of our members and guests – primary hours of operation typically span from 9am to 5pm, with some weekend shifts.
