Job Title: Head of Estates

Location: Olton, Solihull, B27 6PF

Salary: £45,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours: 35 Hours a week

About the role:

The core purpose of the role will be to support and manage all estates related aspects across all premises within the Trusts by:

  • managing all aspects of the Trust’s estate including upkeep, care, maintenance, security and facilities management in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • managing refurbishment, expansion and other building advancements in terms of bidding, developing, procuring and implementing building projects within the partnership.
  • being responsible for the safe and efficient management, operation and development of all Trust premises related functions and resources.
  • being responsible for developing, reviewing and monitoring premises related policies to ensure compliance and integrity at both a national and local level.
  • managing health and safety across all premises within the partnership.
  • contributing to and leading the implementation of an Estates Strategy including ensuring a key focus on sustainability.

About you:

Knowledge:

  • Able to write technical specifications and manage building contracts.
  • Good knowledge of building construction and able to diagnose defects and recommend solutions
  • Sound technical knowledge of health and safety regulations, governance and compliance through previous work experience

Experience:

  • Project Management: experience of facilities management including managing property maintenance, compliance and improvement projects, programmes or contracts within budget and deadlines
  • Experience of building development including preparing and managing procurement activity including JCT contracts
  • Experience of preparing documents to put out tenders for contracts
  • Proven track record, sound knowledge and experience of working in contract management and directly monitoring contractors with a strong focus around productivity, quality, health and safety compliance and cost effectiveness
  • Experience of successfully submitting planning applications for developments
  • A track record of building and managing successful multi-disciplinary teams and delivering consistently high levels of service and high levels of resident satisfaction
  • Strong financial and budgetary management skills

  • Ability to lead change and drive service and performance improvements
  • Excellent organisational & time management skills;

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification in fields such as building studies, construction, engineering or an apprenticeship/NVQ qualification in a technical trade such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry
  • Qualification in Health and Safety – IOSH Managing Health & Safety or NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent

Other:

  • Full driving licence with use of a vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS Check
