Job Title: Health and Safety Coordinator

Location: Helsby, Cheshire – with travel to Bredbury

Salary: £20,000 – £25,000 per annum depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Heat Trace is a manufacturing and engineering company with our headquarters and main manufacturing unit in Helsby Cheshire, we also have two manufacturing facilities at Bredbury, Stockport. The prime activity of the business is the manufacture of highly technical heating cables for use predominantly in the oil and gas and advanced processing industries.

About the role:

The Health and Safety Coordinator will assist the Operations Manager in ensuring Heat Trace Limited obligations towards health and safety are met. They will support the Operations Manager in the implementation and development of new and existing legislation and internal procedures.

The Health and Safety Coordinator will also help to support the company Managers to achieve safe working conditions, legal compliance and the development of an effective health and safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be a Health and Safety Ambassador and to develop and promote a Health and Safety culture within the company
  • Assisting the Operations Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining the company health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and guidance
  • Support the development of the Health and Safety system to in based on ISO 45001
  • Providing advice and support on all aspects of health and safety to the Managers to ensure compliance with legislation and the company procedures and processes

Duties to include:

  • Support the Operations Manager in developing the company core culture to one of Quality, and Health and Safety
  • Conduct risk assessments and their reviews, conduct health and safety audits at all company sites
  • Monitor and drive implementation of corrective and preventative actions arising from health and safety activities including accident investigations, risk assessments and audits to ensure the recommended control measures are in place
  • Assist in monitoring health and safety performance across the organisation to support continuous improvement
  • Any other duties specified by Manager

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • Able to demonstrate a Health and Safety, process, and procedural approach to all aspects of work
  • Previous work experience as a Health and Safety coordinator or similar role with an in-depth experience of Health and Safety requirements
  • Hold a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent (or working towards a recognised Health and Safety Qualification) or IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum. However, if you do not have any of the above qualifications, but can demonstrate experience with ISO 45001, we would look to provide the relevant training for the right candidate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail in all matters with a good analytical approach to problem solving
  • Excellent Production and manufacturing process knowledge
  • Good proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Able to take the initiative and make sound judgements

Working Conditions:

The Health and Safety Coordinator will work in an office and on-site environment, with occasional travel required to other sites or facilities. The role may require working outside of normal business hours or to respond to urgent related issues.
