Job Title: Health and Safety Manager
Location: Homebased / Remote with travels to SYNLAB sites across the UK
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with all health and safety legislation, fostering a culture of safety excellence, and driving continuous improvement in our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- As the Health & Safety Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Health & Safety and play a central role in:
- Ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation and regulations
- Conducting generic and specialized risk assessments, incident investigations, and audits
- Delivering training programs and providing guidance on health and safety matters
- Collaborating in the development of the Synlab Laboratory Occupational, Environmental, Health, and Safety (OEH&S) management system
- Managing and overseeing the Synlab OEH&S strategy, management system, and regulatory compliance
- Supporting the environmental ESG green pillar in relation to OEH&S
- Promoting and championing a positive OEH&S culture that aligns with the vision and values of Synlab Laboratories
- Developing, scheduling, coordinating, and delivering safety training programs to internal stakeholders
- Ensuring the implementation of risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and safe work systems in collaboration with internal stakeholders
Desired Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent certification
- Strong knowledge of current health and safety risk management legislation
- Demonstrated safety leadership experience in a laboratory environment
- Experience in guiding businesses through ISO45001 and ISO14001 accreditation
- Proficiency in auditing, accident investigation, root cause analysis, COSHH, and risk assessment tools
- Experience delivering health and safety training
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong prioritization and workload management skills
- Flexibility, self-motivation, confidence, and initiative
- Willingness to travel to multiple sites to support the H&S agenda
Desirable:
- Experience coordinating third-party providers or activities
- Healthcare or life sciences industry experience
