Job Title: Health & Safety Practitioner

Location: Dunfermline,Scotland

Salary: Up to £45,000 – D.O.E

Job type: Full time – 39 hours Monday to Thursday 7:30am – 4:30pm and Friday 07:30am to 12:30pm.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Health & Safety Team as a Health & Safety Practitioner. This opportunity could also be suited to an individual who has completed a Graduate programme and is looking to progress within the manufacturing industry.

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Development and ownership of HSE Systems
  • Governance of non-conformance
  • Responsibility for ensuring action close out from non-conformances and complaints
  • Responsible for compliance with required standards, and knowledge of latest standards
  • Development and Management of Environmental significant aspects register
  • Management of Health & Safety
  • Certification audit leadership & liaison with external assessment bodies
  • Customer audit leadership & liaison with customer HSE representatives
  • Internal audit leadership
  • Supplier audit process leadership
  • EHS Risk Assessment process management
  • Understanding customer specific HSE requirements and ensuring compliance
  • Management Review preparation & follow up
  • Development, maintenance, and approval of HSE Policy, Manual and relevant processes & procedures
  • HSE training requirements for employees
  • Analysis and reporting of HSE data and metrics, including Key Performance Indicators
  • Management of HSE improvement plans
  • Management of HSE related issues with suppliers, internally or with customers
  • Undertake other project and leadership activities as required

  • Knowledge and practical application in manufacturing environment delivering to customers including knowledge of quality control processes, continuous improvement tools, ISO9001, 14001 & 45001/OHSAS18001 standards
  • Ability to develop and implement simple and robust processes, from scratch, through good understanding of the requirements of the base standard and outstanding clarity of thought
  • Strong analytical ability. Ability to assimilate and analyse large amounts of data quickly
  • Promotes efficiency and profitability by encouraging and facilitating best practice and high quality throughout own department
  • Always high quality focused and sets demanding standards for the quality of own work
  • Creates plans that translate business objectives into relevant action
  • Manages and monitors resources, operations and projects to ensure achievement of agreed objectives
  • The ability to think and map out tasks to ensure good time management for maximum productivity
  • Produces creative ideas and solutions to operational problems and constraints
  • Embraces change, managing plans and resources effectively to meet new circumstances and priorities.

  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office
