Job Title: Housekeeping Assistant

Location: Oak Tree House, Bournville

Salary: £10.47 per hour (£8711.04 per annum)

Job Type: Part Time, Permanent

Working Hours: 16 Hours Per week

About the Role:

Our Domestic Service is an essential part of our organisation, providing a first-class cleaning service across all of our sites, including independent living and residential care services.

Domestic Assistants will have a regular base, but will on occasions be required to provide cleaning services at any of our other sites as required. Domestic Assistants will be required to clean communal areas (including toilets, bathrooms, kitchens dining rooms, halls, lounges etc.), offices and meeting rooms, guest rooms and resident’s rooms (including making or changing beds) or homes (including cleaning void properties/rooms). This will include replacing sundry toiletry items such as toilet rolls, soap, etc.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To undertake all aspects of general cleaning duties as required in a planned and responsive way
  • To handle and store cleaning and equipment in a responsible manner, conforming to the establishment’s COSHH policy
  • To report any equipment defects/faults to the Housekeeping Manage
  • To monitor and replenish cleaning materials and resources
  • To contribute to and maintain a safe and secure environment in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation and basic hygiene procedures
  • To communicate, negotiate and consult with residents, being aware of rights and choices
  • To develop and maintain effective working relationships with other members of staff to enable team working
  • To participate in staff meetings and in staff training where applicable
  • To report and record in the appropriate manner any information considered to be important
  • To co-operate with SJMT in complying with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post

  • The Trust provides housing and a range of care services to older and frail / vulnerable people. There is therefore a requirement for the postholder to be flexible in approach and adaptable in his / her outlook.
  • Undertake such other duties that may be reasonably required

Person Specification:

  • Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • An enhanced DBS check will be taken up for the successful candidate.
  • Cleaning experience in a similar environment is desirable
  • Awareness of infection control measures
  • Awareness of health and safety
  • A caring person who is sensitive to the needs of older vulnerable people and who can engage with and communicate with a diverse range of people
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • A positive can-do attitude
  • Shares the values of SJMT
