Job Title: HR Advisor

Location: Remote/ Hybrid, based in Nottingham

Salary: £28,000 per annum for full-time hours

Job type: Full Time Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm

Total Care Matters is an established residential children’s home provider, with eight homes across the East Midlands supporting children in care between the ages of 8 to 17. We are growing and focused on quality outcomes for young people and ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted results, ensuring that we create a safe and encouraging environment for the young people in our care.

The role:

The HR Advisor role is crucial in supporting and delivering the short- and long-term People strategies within the business. You will report to the HR Business Partner, working within our close-knit and friendly HR Team. You will be passionate about supporting staff and creating a safe and nurturing culture within the organisation.

You will be responsible for delivering an outstanding and supportive HR function, including the full life-cycle of Grievances, Disciplinaries, and supporting managers with Absence Reviews and Performance Management issues. You will be aware of Employment Law changes and updates, as well as trends on Employee Wellbeing and Support. You will be supporting the HRBP to complete the strategic aims of the organisation, implementing a new payroll system and HRIS, and help the organisation to become an employer of choice.

To be successful in the role, you will be an excellent communicator, able to distribute information to all staff in a meaningful and easy to comprehend manner, and compassionate. You will also be able to work independently using your own initiative.

We are looking for a tenacious self-starter, highly organised, who is able to cope well under pressure and work accurately to tight deadlines. You will be reliable, professional and possess strong IT skills with a working knowledge of the full Microsoft office suite.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Support line managers with formal and informal ER casework
  • Advising line managers and staff with guidance and interpretation on HR policies and procedures
  • Acting as first line support for any queries from staff and management
