Job Title: HR Consultant

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire; hybrid working

Salary: Up to £57,000 per annum

Beststart HR supports businesses spanning the country with all their HR needs specifically tailored to their business and industry. We predominantly work with companies with 30-250 employees across a wide range of industries.

HR consultancy offers the ideal environment to continue to develop and master the full range of human resources skills. Unlike in-house HR roles, the array of client challenges from many different industries regularly draws on and continues to hone skills and experience across the full range of HR disciplines. The Role:

Beststart is looking for more than one individual to take on the challenge of becoming a top HR professional who commands knowledge of the breadth of HR disciplines. The role involves continued development of your expertise. Our consultants handle challenging employee relations cases and help organisations in different industries, both at ‘hands on’ and strategic levels, to realise that employment law is not a barrier when implemented with a commercial mindset.

The variety of work keeps HR interesting and fresh for our consultants. We understand how being a senior HR professional can sometimes feel isolated but working alongside like-minded colleagues, who are only too willing to share their knowledge and expertise, makes our working experience collegiate, invigorating and fun!

Beststart provides mentoring and training to increase its consultants’ strengths across the HR disciplines with a clear career framework all the way to Senior HR Consultant.

Our HR Consultants work from our modern office in Stevenage, their homes and on our client sites. We have a hybrid working pattern; however, being flexible and able to work across all these locations is essential to enable us to keep our team dynamics. The travel to client premises may involve regular commuting to locations that are usually within 1.5 hours of Stevenage but may, from time to time and for the limited period of a particular project, be further afield or include overnight stays.

The Candidate:

We would consider candidates who genuinely consider, and can demonstrate, they have the solid, commercial HR skills to embark on the journey to become a top class HR Consultant.

The successful candidates will:

  • Be affable and enjoy developing solid, professional relationships with both colleagues and clients.
  • Possess an obvious, positive attitude, getting excited about new clients, new work and new challenges.
  • Be open to ideas, trying new approaches and being pushed outside their own comfort zone.
  • Be passionate about their work and confident in the value of what they do for a business.
  • Understand the importance of legal parameters, best practices and their implications but can offer unconventional solutions when the situation requires.
  • Possess good time management skills.
  • Be confident with technology and competent using Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent and have good academic grades.
  • Possess relevant HR qualifications e.g. CIPD level 5 and/or 7.
