Job Title: Hydraulic Fitter

Location: Fife, Scotland

Salary: Hourly rate up to £12.01 per hourD.O.E

Farid Hillend Engineering is one of the major manufacturers and providers of waste collection vehicles, recycling collection vehicles and container washers in the UK and Europe. Farid Hillend Engineering, recognised for product quality and service worldwide, provide comprehensive sales and service solutions, utilising modern technology, to the ever-changing waste collection sectors of the waste management industry.

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • To mechanically assemble pumps and PTOS on units.
  • To fit gear box and engine mounted PTOS.
  • To fit hydraulic pumps including hydraulic hose skiving, hydraulic tube cutting and flaring.
  • Assembly of industrial hoses using crimp ferrules.
  • Pressure test hydraulic systems for both high and low pressure.
  • To provide on the job training to other employees.
  • To ensure work area is kept tidy and hazard free.
  • To ensure any defect tools are reported to the Team Leader.
  • To report any health and safety issues/concerns to Team Leader.
  • To ensure agreed stock levels are maintained.

It is therefore a requirement that duties are carried out as per the Quality Manual in the Department. In addition, a basic knowledge of the complete Quality Manual must be attained.

Experience:

  • Good knowledge of mechanical skills essential.
  • Working experience with pumps, PTOs or similar desirable.
  • Working experience of hydraulic systems desirable.
  • Welding experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience working in an automotive, mechanical, or agricultural maintenance or similar industry.
  • Experience working within a strong safety culture.
  • Experience with both metric and jig hydraulic fittings.

Knowledge:

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings including hydraulic schematics and fault find.
  • Knowledge of production processes.
  • Knowledge of different displacement types – Vane, Gear and Piston.

Benefits:

  • Hourly rate – up to £11.01 per hour dependent on experience
  • Discretionary Performance bonus
  • 30 days annual leave
  • Pension – auto enrolment scheme
  • Eligible for overtime – time and a half Monday to Saturday and double time on a Sunday
  • Working hours – 7am – 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7am to 12pm on a Friday
