Job Title: Inspector (Goods-In)

Location: India Mill, Darwen

Salary: £13.50 to £15.50 per hour based on experience, skills, and relevant qualifications.

Job type: Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week over a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday.

Brookhouse Aerospace is a well-known and respected name in the Aerospace Industry currently in its 71st year, and during this time, the business has seen many positive changes following an MBO in 2021 from Kaman UK.

We offer a range of capabilities, including manufacturing composite components, metallics, sheet metalwork, fabrication, machining and treatments.

We are approved and certified for JOSCAR, AS 9100 and NADCAP certificated and are approved Tier 1 and 2 suppliers to the Aerospace and Defence manufacturers in the UK and internationally, such as Airbus, BAE, MBDA, Rolls Royce, Safran and Spirit.

The role:

We are currently searching for a highly experienced Goods-In Inspector with at least three years of working experience within an aerospace/manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The Goods-In Inspector has responsibility for ensuring that parts and processes comply with all customers, third party and regulatory requirements and for upholding the relevant strategies and objectives.

  • Ensure all non-conforming work is segregated and clearly identified and reported to MRB via the NCR process.
  • Support identifying continuous improvement techniques to achieve department/business objectives.
  • Support system improvement project teams to ensure product flow is maintained and best practices are instigated.
  • Provide an efficient and courteous first point of contact for all delivery personnel and third-party couriers.
  • To provide an efficient and effective ‘goods in’ service in line with department ‘best practice’ and ensure compliance to relevant inspections, policies and procedures of both TATS and all other products.
  • To process paperwork accurately and efficiently in line with departmental policy and set procedures.
  • To identify, accurately check and sign for goods into the department, maintaining an accurate log.
  • To co-ordinate deliveries efficiently to the relevant departments throughout the company.
  • To ensure the goods in/holding area is kept safe, secure, clean, and organised and where applicable in line with company ‘best practice’.
  • To liaise with departments and suppliers where discrepancies have been raised.
  • Alert departments upon receipt of urgent supplies or reagent deliveries, especially when they need to be refrigerated upon receipt.
  • Uphold processes that assure the effective Health, Safety and Environmental best practices. To co-ordinate deliveries efficiently to the relevant departments throughout Brookhouse Aerospace HSE Management System.

The Candidate:

  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Can plan and organise workload
  • Key Focus on Quality and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • MRP/ERP system experience at an Inspector level (Epicor, SAP, Sage etc.)
  • Ability to understand and correctly interpret drawings
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods, quality system design and documentation
  • AS EN 9100 & BSEN 9001 QMS (Desirable)
  • Hardness, conductivity, Tensile and Electrical Bond Testing (Desirable)

Working pattern:

  • 4-day week Monday to Thursday 07:15 am to 5:00 pm totaling 37 hours weekly.
  • Overtime is available from Friday to Sunday at premium rates of pay.

  • Holidays start at 28 days per year (including Bank Holidays) (Based on a 4-day working week)
  • Overtime rates after basic hours are 1.5 of your basic hourly rate, and Fridays and Saturdays
  • Overtime rates for Sundays are 2.0 of your basic hourly rate.
